The much-loved sisterhood is back in this final installment of a remarkable series. In Forever in Blue, Lena, Carmen, Bridget, and Tibby no longer worry about childlike crushes and family quarrels; now, following their first year in college, they must contend with pregnancy scares and other ups and downs that come with maturing into adulthood. Throughout the series, the Pants have taught each of them about love and friendship, and Brashares writes her characters with an enduring likeability stronger than any denim.

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

With unraveled embroidery and fraying hems, the Traveling Pants are back for one last, glorious summer.

Lena: Immerses herself in her painting and an intoxicating summer fling, fearing that the moment she forgets about Kostos will be the moment she sees him again.

Carmen: Falls under the spell of a sophisticated college friend for whom a theatrical role means everything and the heritage of the Pants means nothing.

Bridget: Joins a dig for an ancient city on the coast of Turkey and discovers that her archaeology professor is available in every way except one.

Tibby: Leaves behind someone she loves, wrongly believing he will stay where she has left him.

Join Ann Brashares's beloved sisterhood once again in a dazzling, fearless novel. It's a summer that will forever change the lives of Lena, Carmen, Bee, and Tibby, here and now, past and future, together and apart.

Review:

"Carmen, Lena, Bridget and Tibby may not be forever in blue jeans, but they do share the Traveling Pants for at least one more summer. Fans rejoin the foursome just after their freshman year in college. Carmen is attending a summer theater program in Vermont, where she unexpectedly lands a plum role and must contend with her roommate's attempts to sabotage her performance. Enrolled in a summer painting class at Rhode Island School of Design, Lena falls for a fellow student and also receives a surprise visit (his specialty) from Kostos, her former Greek beau. On an archeological dig in Turkey, Bridget finds herself attracted to a professor (who's married). And Tibby, in the most poignant story line, becomes reclusive while taking film classes at NYU, and breaks up with her devoted boyfriend, Brian, after their first sexual encounter results in a pregnancy scare. Brashares credibly recounts the emotional turmoil surrounding the girls' love, peer and family tribulations. There is just passing mention of 'the Pants' and their special powers until novel's end, when the jeans, through a rather unlikely set of circumstances, disappear in Greece — an event that bands the four friends together in a countrywide search. The series' legion followers will eagerly follow each gal through her summer of ups and downs and will again be heartened by the teens' rock-solid friendship. Ages 12-up." Review:

"First-time sex, fear of pregnancy and breaking up are presented delicately, with humor and poignancy. An ode to love and friendship to delight Brashares's legions of fans, who have spent a good deal of their young lives sharing the Pants along with the sisterhood." Kirkus Reviews

Although personally I think that the third book in this series left off at a better stopping place than this one, it was still nice to read about these characters. I believe that Ann Brashares changed them a little bit more than was reasonable, but they are her characters and she would know them better than me, so overall a very good book.

Hey evry1...
well this bk is one that ive been waiting for for ages... ths sisterhood lives on in the flesh and its with my group of friends... its so exciting to hear that theres yet another adventure. My friend Tibzy below wrote how freakily our paths collide wid Ms Brashares character but the story just keeps us together wen we're almost separating aswell. I am seen as the character of bee but i think in many way that we are similar there mayn ways in which we're different so its kinda like the C.@.t.$ (me and my friends group name) are within a book of what life could have bn minus a few set backs we have now. I hope this book dosen't mean its the last because its like we r dying and breaking away and seeing as we're going college this yr its like our ending has come. i know ill always hav them but i also know i wont. Tibzy will always b there coz we kinda take part in all modes of communication whereas my twiin seems to have lost or unable to do so and my other CAT_ is busy which i understand as her 'sister' =D
i hope the books really gd because above all, the sisterhood series brings a smile to my face. i can be angry or sad and rea it and know that lifes short so live it and then i see my best friends my real siblings and 'Perry' and that sum day mayb ill find My Dashingly Handsome Prince Charming ;) and mayb then Bee will b happy wid Eric (whether the 4th book has that written or not lol)...
well i hope u all like the book as well. And i just soo cant wait til its out!!!
Love the sisterhood...
Love the C.@.t.$...
Love the pants...

but dnt 4get love urself!!!

xSamx

p.s i also love all my other friends as well ... the ones taht make Bee's summer funa dn the ones that make my life fantastic!! mwah xxx
