Although I've appreciated many books about survival I still found Laurence Gonzales' exploration of this topic unique and compelling. He synthesizes numerous and varied survivor accounts with lucid discussions of what is known about the survival-oriented underpinnings of mind/body wiring. The implications for outdoor adventurers (whether recreational of extreme) are obvious, but this book is also fascinating from the viewpoint of living life in general.
