Nim's Island

by Wendy Orr

Nim's Island Cover

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

A girl. An iguana. An island. And e-mail. Meet Nim–a modern-day Robinson Crusoe! She can chop down bananas with a machete, climb tall palm trees, and start a fire with a piece of glass. So she’s not afraid when her scientist dad sails off to study plankton for three days, leaving her alone on their island. Besides, it’s not as if no one’s looking after her–she’s got a sea lion to mother her and an iguana for comic relief. She also has an interesting new e-mail pal. But when her father’s cell-phone calls stop coming and disaster seems near, Nim has to be stronger and braver than she’s ever been before.

And she’ll need all her friends to help her.

Review:

"There is real humor and a gentle magic in Nim's Island which will easily make it a favorite for children--and their parents! One not to miss." — Cairns Post (Australia).

Nim's Island is a great family movie, and a wonderful children's book. There is something for the whole family.
The ending was perfect. I'm just a housewife from Ohio. But I get ideas when I watch movies. I would love to see a second movie of Nim's Island (All Grown Up).
I would love to see Nim as a teenager or as a youg 20 year old. And the boy from the cruise to return to the Island after years of thinking of her and possibly loving her. Thanks to everyone envoled in the great efforts to get this out to our young people. It is so refreshing to finally set down and watch a movie that has no inapporiate humor;laungang;or situations that younger children should not be exposed to.
