I'm a big fan of Ilona Andrews's Kate Daniels series, and I love the alternate reality she has create in "post shift" Atlanta. However, the latest book in the series, Magic Bleeds, is by far the best yet. Andrews pits Kate against her very powerful and evil aunt, who just happens to be a demi-god. "Aunt" Erra is bent on creating chaos, tearing Atlanta apart, and killing Kate in the process. Throw in the luscious romantic conflict between Kate and Curran, the Atlanta "Beast King," and this is a near-perfect book by a truly gifted writer.

A great Urban Fantasy novel, the characters are strong, funny and likable, the story is just as dark and edgy as it is humorous or romantic, and the series just gets more addictive with each book.

This is my favorite book of 2010 - the one I just can't stop rereading - and it gets my 2011 Puddly Award vote. I can't wait for the next book in the Kate Daniel's series to come out!!!

I am beginning to think that this husband and wife team author is another Jim Butcher! I don't know how they do it, but, they seem to churn out masterpiece after masterpiece every time!! Story telling quality? Hell, the book grabs you by the scruff of your shirt and yanks you away to an alternate universe so seemlessly that a reader forgets the real world!! That, is what I call entertainment!! Suspension of disbelief? 5 out of 5. World building? 5 out of 5. Character development is 5 out of 5. Another masterpiece.

It didn't escape my notice that Penguin has cheekily stamped this book with a "Great Read Guaranteed!" offer with money back assurance until August 1, 2010. Had I bought this copy, I won't be one of them getting my money back :)
