A Walk to Remember is set in Beaufort, North Carolina in 1958. Jamie Sullivan is the daughter of a strict, old, minister, Hegbert Sullivan. Jamie is sweet, religious, and very charitable. On the other hand, theres Landon Carter. Landon is a rebellious teen who is very popular jock, and would never even be seen with anyone like Jamie. They have opposite titles when it comes to popularity, and theres no way that they could ever fall in love. But is there? Jamie and Landon both learn through trials and heartache, that love conquers all. People can change, and you should never judge someone before you get to know them. A Walk to Remember is the perfect book for a romantic. It is sweet, inspiring, and it portrays true love at its best.
Although, everything isn’t easy from when Landon and Jamie first meet. Landon’s disapproving friends, including Eric Hunter, judge Landon and make fun of Jamie because she is so charitable but completely oblivious to people around her. Their love is tested, and things would never be the same between them. This book explains, in my opinion, the perfect definition of love. “Love is patient and kind. It is never jealous, love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. Love never gives up, and never loses faith. It is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance. Love will last forever.”(Sparks 102) This quote really stood out to me because this was the phrase from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 that Jamie and Landon chose to represent their love. It had always been one of Jamie’s personal favorite verses, and it reminded her of her deceased mother as well.
I give this book a 10 out of 10! It really touched me. You will probably smile, and then you will cry throughout the novel. I think that it is amazing how many truths about life both characters learn. Each individual overcame an obstacle and changed their point of view in life. This book was sweet and very enjoyable. If you love inspirational stories and hopeful young love, you will enjoy the New York Times Bestselling author Nicholas Spark’s book, A Walk to Remember.

Every single time I read this book, I cry. Nicholas Sparks has an uncanny ability to write such inspiring and heart felt books. The characters he weaves are so realistic that it is impossible not to become attached.
This story grabs you by your eyes and doesn't let go till the ride is over.
The very first time I read it I thought I wasn't going to like it. I thought, Nicholas Sparks writes tons of books and thus a mainstream author. What can he write that I haven't read? It was a very arrogant stance for me to make but then I was a sophomore in High School. That very title alone means "Wise-fool" and so I was. This touching tale of the "American" bad boy tamed by the Pastor's daughter is enchanting. It weaves the past with the present and leaves you touched or crying at the end.
I don't want to give too much away but the story is also touching because of the intense love between a daughter and a father.
The Preacher loses his wife and only has his daughter. Thus, how cherished she becomes and then this "young pup" comes along. He is wild as the devil and it is no surprise that the father disapproves. However, as you will understand if you read this novel, Love conquers all.

Once again, Sparks won me over. This beautiful, tragic story can make you believe in love... especially in the most unexpected places. The conflicting emotions of Landon as he begins to experience love for the first time are very well written- and make it hard to stop reading. If you are a Sparks fan, you've got to read A Walk to Remember.

Nicholas sparks a walk to remember was a compelling love story that was filled with un-denying love found in the most suprizing person.
the story-line was creative and relatable.
my favorite part was the beginning/prologue and i couldnt help but be a bit dissapointed with the middle majority of the book.

Nicholas Sparks has a knack for writing beautiful novels. This is definitely, in my opinion, his best yet. By the time I reached the 3rd or 4th chapter, I was hooked. I could not put it down. I'll admit, I didn't think I was in the mood for this type of story when I started reading it. I was wrong. It is the story of a teenager coming of age in the fifties. Yet, in many ways it could be the story of a teenager today. Teenagers always try to fit in with the crowd and please their peers. Also worth a look is The Fates by Tino Georgiou, a truly memorable read.

Warner Books -
This bestseller, from the author of "The Notebook" and "Message in a Bottle", is the "tragic yet spiritual love story" ("Variety") of a man who falls in love with the shy daughter of a Baptist minister and experiences the depth of the human heart.
There was a time when the world was sweeter....when the women in Beaufort, North Carolina, wore dresses, and the men donned hats.... Every April, when the wind smells of both the sea and lilacs, Landon Carter remembers 1958, his last year at Beaufort High. Landon had dated a girl or two, and even once sworn that he'd been in love. Certainly the last person he thought he'd fall for was Jamie, the shy, almost ethereal daughter of the town's Baptist minister....Jamie, who was destined to show him the depths of the human heart-and the joy and pain of living. The inspiration for this novel came from Nicholas Sparks's sister: her life and her courage. From the internationally bestselling author Nicholas Sparks, comes his most moving story yet....
