For fans of that sometimes-muted, sometimes-slapstick British wit, it doesn't get any better than Douglas Adam's "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." This edition includes the original novel plus the author's four novel sequels and short-story prequel, which is handy for those who fall in love with the characters early on. While together they form a classic of British satire, the novelty and cleverness wanes in the middle and makes only a moderate comeback in the final chapters. Still, it's worth the read (if only to know how best to respond when someone tells you, "Don't forget your towel!" or "Don't panic").

Adams is a genius at satire and general humor! With the crazy antics of his characters, he makes you wonder how you could have ever gone without reading any of these books. A great read, even the third, fourth or fiftieth time!
