Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

When four big chickens see a wolf sneaking near their coop, they run into the woods to hide. But for a bunch of big chickens, running away from danger isn’t as easy as it looks. As they continue on their way, they wonder:What if they get stuck in a ditch? What if they hit an iceberg in the lake? What if they step into a cow patty? Ewww!

Brimming with silliness and the kind of slapstick humor small children love, here’s a rollicking read-aloud with an uplifting message and a very satisfying ending. Henry Cole’s hilarious artwork captures all the sly humor.

Synopsis:

Pip, Midge, and Dot, the lovable, goofy hens of Loopy Coop Farm, are back in their third adventure. This time they wrestle with the age old question: Why do apples fall? On their way to their own unique conclusion, they are first scared silly, then end up just acting silly. Showing bravery, curiosity, and loyalty to each other, these three irresistible hens will inspire young ones to face their own funny fears.

With easy-to-read text and charmingly comic illustrations, this read-aloud is the perfect combination of sweetness and whimsy.

I read this book for the first time this week. I love this book. I am going to school to be an elementary teacher, and I chose this book for my reading fair project. This book teaches that it is alright to be scared, and not know what to expect because in the end you become a brave person. The four chickens scaring off the wolf made them become brave. This is a great book to share with children. They need to know that there is going to be times when you feel scared, and then there will also be times when you feel brave. Overall, I love this book. I will have a copy in my classroom.
