Dear Reader,

I was awfully excited when I was asked to write a book. I was however, nervous. I was afraid I didnt have anything important to say. But when I began writing, I realized that although I dont know a lot about any one thing, I know a little about a whole bunch of things: baking a pie; dancing; curing the common cold; running the Iditarod-its all in the book. And I realized I notice things that maybe some people dont notice (or they dont notice that they dont notice). Thats all in the book, too.

Ellen DeGeneres is funny irrespective of whether she is talking or writing. She has the ability to say the most inane things in a funny way. This makes My Point ...and I do have one, remarkably funny.

However, Ellen also has the capacity to drop some deep philosophical insight in casually' for example - "Don't hold onto things it'll only bring you pain," in the context of memories.
