A tale that truly enraptures the reader and transports them seamlessly into the world of A Song of Ice and Fire. Every character is written to be human and complex, making each one relatable in some small way. I would recommend this book to anyone with a love for classic high fantasy and a dynamic storyline and universe.
George R R Martin takes every chance to immerse us in this world, providing compelling lore and history. The fine details are given in regulation so that the readers can also imagine varying mental images. Very few times have I read a story that so deeply envelopes me in the atmosphere.
For female readers or femme identifiers, Martin actually writes human women! Dynamic, diverse, and truly complex, these women are powerful (be it physically or in spirit). Never before have I seen such well written females.
In summary, thank you George R R Martin for this deep and constantly developing tale of power, corruption, and magic.

When I started to watch the HBO series "Game of Thrones," a friend of mine recommended I read the books first, and that was one of my better book-related decisions. A Game of Thrones is one of the most detailed and enthralling novels I've read. Vivid imagery meets incredibly three-dimensional character development and an intensely intricate plot with just the right amount of fantasy. The shifting-perspective style allows for an all-encompassing perspective of Martin's world and characters, giving you one chapter from a given character and the next from his enemy. It takes patience to read, but the payoff is absolutely worth it. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys fantasy, politics, or adventure.

Amazing book! There's really something in it for everyone. I watched the first season first and then picked up the book. If you loved the show it's definitely worth reading the book for all the details.
