The "Captain Underpants" books are ones that parents probably find annoying, juvenile, and ridiculous, whereas young boys likely find absolutely hilarious. That's certainly the case in my household. What boys from ages 4 to 7 wouldn't like books where evil talking toilets come to life, the hero shoots underwear briefs, and other bathroom-related jokes abound? I gave this five stars not because I personally find it very good, but because my boys do, and if it gets them interested in reading, then it's very good.

As parents already know, Beginning Reader books are often very repetitive and boring, and many such books drive adults crazy as their children start learning to read out loud (because, let's face it people... they're our kids and we are not going to escape unscathed from this phase). But Captain Underpants is different! It's so much fun to listen to (and to read by yourself... when nobody is looking). Plus, with the "Flip-O-Ramas," the kids will have a lot to keep them occupied! You'll probably have to get all the books in this series, and, before you know it, your kids will be reading Middle Readers all by themselves!
by School Library Journal,
"Pilkey plays with words and pictures, providing great entertainment. The story is immediately engaging....This book will fly off the shelves."
by Kirkus Reviews,
"There'll be no silence in the library once readers get hold of this somewhat classier alternative to Barf-o-Rama books and their crude ilk."
The next book in the hilarious series about history's greatest undead inventors!
Before Victor can figure out why Benjamin Franklin awoke from his two-hundred-plus years of sleep, giant bat planes and mysterious attacks bring mayhem to Philadelphia. Only two of history's inventors could pilot such high-flying creations--the famous Wright brothers! But the red-eyed brothers don't seem quite like themselves . . . could the brothers really want to take over Philadelphia--and can Victor and his friends crash their plans in time?
