Marcus Andrews seeks glory in his small hometown of Eaden, Montana. He is entering his senior year of high school and has yet to attain the athletic fame that he has dreamed of his entire life. He is further burdened by his father's mental illness and confusing preoccupations. When his history teacher assigns a history writing project, Marcus reaches out to George O'Sullivan, an old man known for his knowledge of local Native American history as well as for rumors about his sexuality. As Marcus's friendship with George grows throughout Marcus's final year of high school, secrets are revealed that will change his life and impact his entire family.
