If I were a writer I could better tell you how much I enjoyed reading this book. Like the river that is central to the novel - the Little Dove River - it invites you to dip your toes in and sit on a bridge on a lazy day and watch the goings on in this small area of Appalachia. The story has several main characters and each of their lives weave in and out of the others. There are funny bits, and sad bits, and mysterious bits that keep pulling you along as more and more of the intent and motivations of the characters is revealed. And, beyond the story itself, the writing is beautiful. After I would put the book down to go do some chore I would find myself thinking about the story, and then about how this story teller masterfully used words to paint a picture rich with feelings and personality. I recommend this book and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
