Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Afterword by Peter Glassman. "Originally published in 1907, this book concerns four likable English children and their adventures with a magic ring. It's hard to imagine a more appealing showcase for Nesbit's fantasy than this handsome volume....Zelinsky's artwork is as lively as the story and very much of the period....Beautiful."--Booklist. A Books of Wonder Classic.

Synopsis:

An invisible princess, a magic ring, and more adventures than you could dream of. This is what Gerald, Kathleen and Jimmy find when they stumble upon a mysterious castle. At first it all appears to be a lark. But the children soon discover they need all their bravery and ingenuity to contend with the castle's supernatural forces. Exquisite watercolor illustrations.

Delightful and surprising fantasy--it's worn very well in a century. Not just an enchanted castle, but a magic ring, dinosaurs that move, a princess, secret passages, and more. And it's not just for kids--adults will enjoy it, too, and writers will learn quite a bit about their craft.
