Synopses & Reviews

Synopsis:

Mousy housewife Kiki Lowenstein has only been good at two things in her life: scrapbooking and raising her eleven-year-old daughter, Anya. Known as the Scrapbook Queen of St. Louis, Kiki works part-time at a scrapbook shop and shares her passion with others. But life gets sticky when her husband, George, is found naked and dead with a silk scarf stuffed in his mouth. And worse, George's business partner accuses him of having embezzled company money. Vowing to put all the pieces together, Kiki toughens up and spouts vicious threats when George's former flame brags about their affair at a bridal shower. But when the woman is murdered, Kiki's scissor-sharp words make her a prime suspect. Faced with losing custody of Anya, can Kiki track down the cunning killer, resist the distractingly dashing Detective Detweiler, and reveal the courageous woman she is at heart?

Synopsis:

Every scrapbook tells a story. Memories of friends, family . . .and murder?

Mousy housewife Kiki Lowenstein has two great loves: scrapbooking and her young daughter, Anya. But her happy family album is ruined when her husband, George, is found naked and dead in a hotel room. As Kiki tracks down George's murderer, she discovers his sordid secret life.

Cruel taunts by George's former flame compel Kiki to spout an unwise threat. When the woman is murdered, Kiki's scissor-sharp words make her the prime suspect. She could be creating scrapbook keepsakes for the rest of her life-behind bars. Supported by her loyal friends, along with a little help (and a lot of stomach flutters) from the dashing Detective Detweiler, can Kiki cut the true killer out of the picture and design a new life for herself and Anya?

I loved Kiki and her story! She is the epitome of being handed lemons and making lemonade, and finding an inner core of strength along the way. I've read the book (lucky me!), and without giving anything away I can say I laughed, I cried, and I would hope that under similar circumstances I could be as resilient. Kiki's story resonates; haven't we all known someone or are ourselves in a place we never envisioned and wondered how we got here, so far from where we thought our life would be at this point? The cherry on the sundae of this book is the scrapbooking tips; not previously a scrapbooker, I've been inspired to try, and been amazed at the results. Kiki's world is wonderful, and I'm glad I was invited into it. You will be, too.
