About the Author

Jim C. Hines is the author of the Jig the Dragonslayer trilogy and the Princess novels. His newest novel, Libriomancer, begins the Magic Ex Libris series, and the sequel, Codex Born, will be published in 2013. Jim's short stories have appeared in more than forty magazines and anthologies. He has a Masters in English from Eastern Michigan University, and he lives in Michigan with his wife and children, who have always shown remarkable tolerance for his bizarre and obsessive writing habits.

Oh, this book is fun. It's founded on the magic in a love of books - immersing yourself into an imaginary world until it feels real and tangible. In this world, a libriomancer magician can reach into a book and pull things out: a magic sword, a healing potion, a snappy hat. Isaac is a libriomancer, and of course something has gone terribly wrong and he has to dive in and prevent a magical war that will destroy the world. He has a great dryad side-kick, who saves the day again and again. The books that he uses in his magic are all over the map, and all the references to them cheer the heart of a reader. Who knew that the popularity of vampire books would cause so much trouble?! The humor is wonderful; I was driving my husband nuts by laughing out loud, and then not telling him what the joke, to not spoil it for him.
