This book made me giddy — in a good way — the first time I looked through it. I longed to stretch out on my belly on the floor and thumb through this fascinating book for hours. I grabbed everyone around me to show them my favorite pictures (check out pages 64 and 130 and 254 and... okay, I'll stop now) and to read them some awesome facts. (Did you know that a housefly can "liquefy some solid foods such as sugar by drenching them with saliva and soaking up the result with its moplike mouthparts"? Or that "everyone has a unique tongue print"?) With such a variety of topics, this is the perfect gift for anyone age eight and up.
