About the Author
Kate DiCamillo was born in Philadelphia and moved with her family to Florida when she was five years old. "People talked more slowly and said words I had never heard before, like 'ain't' and 'y'all' and 'ma'am,' " she says, recalling her first impressions. "It was all so different from what I had known before, and I fell swiftly and madly in love." In her twenties, Kate DiCamillo moved to Minnesota, where the long winter helped inspire Because of Winn-Dixie. "One night before I went to sleep, I heard this little girl's voice with a Southern accent say, "I have a dog named Winn-Dixie." I just started writing down what India Opal Buloni was telling me."

this is a very nice book i once read it and i said i love this book!i am going to get this book when i get enough money but right now i dont have enough i think all i have is 40$ if i can oops better get it soon and i know i will read it always...cause if i never read it in a long time...and i notice i will say oh!i remember this book i loved it its been a while i think i will read it again because i love the book alot when ever i see it im all like
i have to get it before anyone else does but before i can get it its gone so i am looking forward into getting this book.i love this book!!!

This is a very sweet story about a young girl and her dog, and the people they meet, and the friends they make.
Everything you need for a great children's book, right?
WRONG!
This book has everything you need for a great book for EVERYONE.
If you can read this book and not find ONE character with whom you can empathize, then I can only say that your heart must be made of stone.
This book grabs your attention from the opening pages and doesn't let go again until you reach the end. I will say this until I'm blue in the face (or in the fingers, since I'm typing this), people - children's books are for everyone!

This book was AMAZING. Though it was short, i think it had many great lessons that everyone can learn from. Kids, and adults too, will LOVE this book.
