This is one of those books where you imagine a really cool scene months after finishing the book and you think "what was that scene from? it was so cool!" This books is really fun to read and it offers some quality fantasy fiction without the commitment of multiple thousand-page books. There is really good character development, a good plot line and some really interesting ideas. I stopped reading the trilogy after the first book, but I recently just bought Well of Ascension because I wanted to read more! The first book is pretty good as a stand-alone novel though.

I loved this book! Brandon Sanderson has a great writing style that just drew me in. I couldn't put this book, or the next two, down. The characters are fresh. The magic a new type. Just an all-around great book.

Great book. A unique story. Not your stereotypical fantasy. A marvelous exploration of what innocence and hope are in a dark, broken, and unkind world. Good themes, and great character development. Wonderful and unique treatment of magic. Constantly entertaining, while also able to attain some wonderful depth in its characters and story. A lot of humanity in a supremely entertaining novel. I haven't read fiction in a long time, but I fell in love with this series after the first chapter.
Pick it up especially if you like the George R.R. Martin series. I've heard that a lot of people who don't get along well with other fantasy novels end up loving these two authors.

These books were the first to wrench real emotion out of me since I read The Song of Fire and Ice books. Rarely have I seen such astounding character development within a trilogy. I was remorse to finish this series and will be desperately reading everything Brandon Sanderson has written in hopes of finding books that match it in imagination.

This book was wicked fun from beginning to the end. The premise of a small rebel group wanting to overthrow the ruling regime probably seems simple, maybe even overused. However, it gets complicatedly good quick. Each character has a backstory, some of which we learn throughout the tale. Each has his and her own reasons for following Kelsier on his mad quest. The bad guys are not fumbling idiots either, but rather skilled, deadly, and mysterious. A side romance adds a few complications to the master plan, but played well for the reader.
