this is a good book it shows me a message that the grass isnt always greener on the other side. This also shows me how people are killed over dumb things from when she says that her moms brother was killed for four quarters and a bottle of beer .This make me want to keep reading books like this i thank whoever wrote this book it taught me a great lesson and im going to try to write a puersuasive essay encouraging people to stay on their feets because theres nothing out there thats beter than home so always try to do what you can to keep up with your money. Also i thank Coretta Scott King and her wonderful husband because he really taught me a lesson to follow my dream!

all in all thanx for writting the book

sincerly,
t'keyia woodberry

I REALLY LOVE THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT TELLS ABOUT A GIRL MY AGE WHO HAS WENT THROUGH ALOT WHOS MOM IS ALSO SINGLE LIKE MINE AND HAS GOOD FRIENDS LIKE I DO. I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO BE IN THIS IF IT WAS A MOVIE PLAYING THE PART OF ZORA WHO IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS IN THE BOOK. I REALLY WANT THIS TO BE A MOVIE BECAUSE IT IS A REALLY GOOD BOOK LIKE "THE SKIN I'M IN" AND "BEGGING FOR CHANGE."I ALSO REALLY WANT TO BE IN IT. ITS A REALLY DESENT BOOK. SHARON G.FLAKE IS NOW MY FAVORITE AUTHOR.

Product details 208 pages Jump at the Sun - English 9780786815036 Reviews:
"Review" by , "The razor-sharp dialogue and unerring details evoke characters, rooms, and neighborhoods with economy and precision, creating a story that's immediate, vivid, and unsensationalized. Without synthetic drama or stereotypes, Flake shows poverty and how it touches everyone, whether it's the actual absence of money or the fear of losing it."
"Review" by , "Tough and tender, with moments of humor, this is a riveting story. The streetwise Raspberry and the mean streets she inhabits are vividly portrayed in the vernacular of the streets, and hers is a story that is hard to put down. Urban kids will nod their heads in agreement with Raspberry, and suburban kids will come away with a new understanding and respect."
"Review" by , "Where Flake excels is in her depiction of these people and their lives. Most of the many characters spring to life....As a slice-of-life story and in the depiction of relationships, this book is vivid, compelling, and disturbing. Teen readers either will see themselves in it or have their eyes opened."
"Review" by , "Flake does a stunning job of intertwining Raspberry's story with daily urban scenes, and she writes smoothly and knowingly of teen problems, discussions, and reactions. Focused storytelling, clear writing, and a compelling voice are the highlights of this short novel."
"Synopsis" by , All thirteen-year-old Raspberry can think of is making money so that she and her mother never have to worry about living on the streets again.
