Publisher Comments:

Ian Striver is popular and handsome, and all the girls like him. He is also part of a secret boys' club called the CIA, which guarantees his standing in his school's social elite. So when one of his CIA friends throws down a bet, Ian has to take it, or risk losing his rep. The bet is that Ian has three weeks to make a girl fall in love and have sex with him.

Review:

"If popular Ian wants to be initiated into high school fraternity F.B.I. (Freaky Boys Incorporated), he not only has to have sex with Kylie, whom his friends call a 'bow-wow,' he has to 'make her fall for him'-all in three weeks. The premise seems familiar, and the trajectory offers no real surprises. Ian actually connects with Kylie, a kind, responsible girl who often cooks and cares for her younger brother and sister. Almost from their first good conversation, he has a guilty conscience, realizing 'she wasn't this somebody he didn't know. She had a name, a personality, a voice.' Kylie, meanwhile, contends with her friends who warn her about Ian's reputation and about going too fast. The narrative alters between Ian's and Kylie's points of view, and Davidson (Jason and Kyra) flushes out their lives, making their motivations clear. Kylie's father is often absent, and she feels lonely, and more like a mother than a teen; and while Ian's sister says he's 'better' than his own flaky father, it takes Ian time to decide not to be like the man he accuses of 'throwing people away.' Despite some clichéd moments (including Kylie's inevitable makeover), there is a heartfelt story here. Readers will likely care about these characters and relate to-or at least sympathize with-the pressures they face. Ages 12-up." Publishers Weekly (Copyright Reed Business Information, Inc.)

Synopsis:

When one of Ian's boys dares him to get plain-faced Kylie Winship to sleep with him in just three weeks, he thinks it'll be a breeze. Tall and fine, with honey-colored skin and eyes, Ian is used to getting what he wants from girls. And if he succeeds in playing Kylie, he'll be down with the most popular crew in his high school. But this girl--who everyone considers a nobody--is turning out to be more surprising than he ever could have imagined. Kylie has a gut feeling that something's up when Ian Striver starts pursuing her, but his good looks and charm are impossible to resist. Their new relationship heats up quickly, and soon Kylie will have to decide whether to listen to her heart, or her head. From the author of "Jason & Kyra" comes this story of a high school "player" who, on a dare from the popular crew, vows to seduce a plain-faced girl that everyone considers a nobody. However, she turns out to be more surprising than he ever could have imagined.
