About the Author

Philip Yungkin Lee is an applied linguist with 30 years of practical experience in teaching Chinese to foreign learners. He is the author of many books, including the four volumes of Chinese in a Flash available from Tuttle Publishing.

Darell Tibbles is the World Languages Coordinator and on the Mandarin Chinese language faculty at Vistamar School in El Segundo, CA.

This is a great book. It's the sequel to 100 Essential Chinese Characters. I wouldn't suggest using this book without reading/studying the first book, because they progress quite fast and skip over the basic characters. Also, in their pronunciation guide, they leave out combinations of vowels which is very important, but which is probably included in the first book.
Other than that, it's a really fun, useful book! It's not geared towards travelers, which I like. It builds a real foundation so you can learn the full language, not just basic tourist phrases.
