Our local library does a feature each week on a prominent person and books. One of the questions asked of each person is "What was your favorite book as a child?" The question reminded me of this sweet book, available by Scholastic Book Order (remember those ?) and it probably cost about $.95 (maybe less!) when I saved up for it. It "celebrates diversity" by recognizing a special quality of a ratty,torn-up "best loved" doll in a room full of dolls brought to a party to impress the other party-goers.

I felt validated in my own sometimes "less than" possessions as a young child and allowed to make my own quirky choices, too.
