He could grab you by the end of the first page and take you on one wild ride 'til the end of the book. In the Dark is a great example of his twisted sense of fun and games. Anyone who appreciates an early 80s slasher film will enjoy Laymon. Other top notch novels by this lowbrow cult favorite are: The Cellar, Night in The Lonesome October, and  Midnight's Lair.
