A must for Michelle Tea fans. Tea takes her irresistably gritty storytelling ability one step further by teaming up with illustrator Lauren McCubbin to create a powerful, entertaining, and enjoyably off-color graphic novel.

The second half of Rent Girl captures so well what San Francisco was like pre-dot-com and in the beginning stages of the dot-com revolution. This San Francisco got wiped out in the tsunami of tech cash that washed the alternative culture across the bay and up to Portland, Oregon. Michelle Tea's blunt style is great.
