I thought I was a pretty decent amateur gardener, but this book brought my gardening up to a whole new level.

First of all, it is a book for Oregon, Washington and British Columbia, not just the whole of the West Coast (which varies from place to place, just a weeeeee bit) which can be difficult to find. Most books have a section, a small section, on the Northwest. Having an entire AWESOME book dedicated to our area is amazing.

The way it is organized is great, you have everything you need to know about plants, soil conditions, even weather - and more - for many different areas of the Northwest - they don't just say "Northwest" and really mean urban areas. I was able to help my grandmother with some gardening woes, and she lives in Eastern Oregon.

The best part, though, is that I was able to actually rely on it for information and go back to it. I did not just flip through it, look at some pretty pictures and put it up on my bookshelf to collect dust.

It is a book I really do use, and struggle to keep dirt off of when I take it out in the garden!
