Publisher Comments:

Jim Goads brief career as an underground celebrity has been studded with controversy, from an obscenity trial over a much-reviled rape issue of his online magazine, to a White House shooting in which the perpetrator quoted Goads writing, to a two-and-a-half-year stint in prison for assault. Shit Magnet is his manifesto, written while he was incarcerated. The books theme is guilt how the act of blaming the enemy and slaying him is historys propulsive force. Preferring the role of shit magnet to pity sponge, he explores the disabling effects of guilt; uncovers sinister forces behind fashionable stances on race, gender, and criminal justice; and offers his own life as an example of how evil can be imprinted on a person from an early age. Goad is the former publisher of the legendary zine Answer Me! and the author of The Redneck Manifesto.

Synopsis:

Goad, one of the most controversial media figures in recent years and author of 'The Redneck Manifesto', spent the last few years in prison for punching his girlfriend. During his sentence he wrote 'Shit Magnet', a reflection on the remarkable events that led to his success and downfall.

Jim is my favorite contemporary writer. He is real, raw, honest and pure... I have read everything he has written and look forward to his next installment. His singing voice is beautiful, quite a surprise for a man who has been through hell. I for one am fortunate to have him as a dear friend. He is as amazing in person as he is on paper.
