Some Turtles Have Nice Shells Cover

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

A book on handmade housetrucks and housebuses. This soft cover book is a collection of over 390 exterior and interior photographs, with descriptions and comments by this Oregon author. Includes construction sections showing the building of a housetruck and the raising of a roof on a housebus. The book concludes with a section showing housetrucks and housebuses on the scenic road, and small gatherings of people who live in these "homes on wheels."

About the Author

Roger Beck built his first housecar in 1969 and left Los Angeles, California heading north. In the next 7 1/2 years he traveled the Pacific Northwest doing art fairs and building three more housetrucks, each one getting larger. He also met many other housetruck people along the way, and took lots of photos of their "mobile: homes. Most of the photos in this book are from the collection he compiled during his travels during the 1970s.

Eye-candy for anyone who is interested in housetrucks, retro RV living, treehouses, or living in ultra-small spaces.

Page after page of fantastic pictures of housetrucks all over the US. Great inspiration for building and living in any small space!

If only I could talk my husband into building and living in our very own housetruck..
