Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Curious Gorge is primarily a hiking guide to the Gorge, but with a twist. The author also includes many places the typical hiking guide leaves out — the drive-to viewpoints, trail-less excursions to hidden waterfalls, places to watch salmon spawn, or gorge oddities such as the Trout Lake Ice Cave.

Truly an amazing book about an amazing part of the country! Being new to Portland, I quickly picked up several books about the area, but this became my instant favorite. I can't wait to visit all the places. I especially like the out-of-the-way nature of many of the entries (though the popular ones are all there too).

It is especially easy to navigate and know how long it will take to get there (at least from Portland). That way I can pack the most into a nice day.

I even bought a copy already for a friend who is coming to visit the Gorge next month.

Highly recommended!
