The Pilo Family Circusby Will Elliott
"If David Lynch ever decided to produce a circus...it probably would have turned out a lot like this novel....[Elliot's]descriptions of the circus and its denizens are a literary seance of Dante being led through a previously undiscovered ring of Hell..." Gerry Donaghy, Powells.com (read the entire Powells.com review)
Synopses & Reviews
"You have two days to pass your audition. You better pass it, feller. Youre joining the circus. Ain't that the best news you ever got?"
Delivered by a trio of psychotic clowns, this ultimatum plunges Jamie into the horrific alternate universe that is the centuries-old Pilo Family Circus, a borderline world between Hell and Earth from which humankinds greatest tragedies have been perpetrated. Yet in this place — peopled by the gruesome, grotesque, and monstrous — where violence and savagery are the norm, Jamie finds that his worst enemy is himself. When he applies the white face paint, he is transformed into JJ, the most vicious clown of all. And JJ wants Jamie dead!
Echoes of Lovecraft, Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and early Stephen King resound through the pages of this magical, gleefully macabre work nominated as Best Novel by the International Horror Guild.
"A superb novel, Will Elliott's The Pilo Family Circus is a page-turner that is impossible to put down and will at once horrify, entrance and amuse the reader. Highly recommended." Fantasy Book Critic (http://fantasybookcritic.blogspot.com)
"The Pilo Family Circus is a book that you should definitely pick up if you like your fiction deeply unsettling and hilarious all at the same time." Graeme's Fantasy Book Review
