Excellent background formulation with empirical relations. Hoerner uses many figures to represent the change in the coefficients to certain key parameters. He also summarizes the empirical data and the empirical equations that have been found up to the date of his printing 1957, which happens to be a very correct method even for today's standards.
In short, much of the subject represented here can still be applied with a high degree of correctness (with approximately 80% accuracy) for estimation methods of the drag force on aircraft, naval vessels, etc. Very useful in the first steps of designing vehicles that travel at speeds where it may encounter a fluid dynamic drag force.
