Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper Extraordinaire, is back in this sexy, suspenseful novel of supernatural shenanigans

When Charley is rudely awakened in the middle of the night by her best friend who tells her to get dressed quickly and tosses clothes out of the closet at her, she can't help but wonder what Cookie's up to. Leather scrunch boots with a floral miniskirt? Together? Seriously? Cookie explains that a friend of hers named Mimi disappeared five days earlier and that she just got a text from her setting up a meet at a coffee shop downtown. They show up at the coffee shop, but no Mimi. But Charley finds a message on the bathroom wall. Mimi left a clue, a woman's name. Mimi's husband explains that his wife had been acting strange since she found out an old friend of hers from high school had been found murdered a couple weeks prior. The same woman Mimi had named in her message.

Meanwhile, Reyes Alexander Farrow (otherwise known as the Son of Satan. Yes. Literally) has left his corporeal body and is haunting Charley. He's left his body because he's being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But Reyes can't let that happen. Because if the demons get to Charley, they'll have a portal to heaven. And if they have a portal to heaven...well, let's just say it wouldn't be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Will Cookie ever get a true fashion sense? And is there enough coffee and chocolate in the world to fuel them as they do?

Synopsis:

Second in the Darynda Jones' award-winning paranormal series that's "hilarious and heartfelt, sexy and surprising." (J.R. Ward)

When Charley Davidson and Cookie (her best friend/receptionist) have to track down a missing woman, the case is not quite as open and shut as they anticipate. A friend of Cookie's named Mimi disappeared five days earlier. This friend then sends Cookie a cryptic message telling them to meet her at a nearby coffee shop. The coffee is brewing, but Mimi's still missing. There is, however, a clue left on the bathroom wall: a woman's name, scribbled by Mimi. Mimi's husband explains that his wife had been acting strange since she found out an old friend of hers from high school had been murdered a couple weeks prior.

And if they have a portal to heaven…well, let's just say it wouldn't be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Can she keep those she loves out of harm's way? And is there enough coffee and chocolate in the world to fuel her as she does?

Charley Davidson has found life gets very complicated when hanging around the dead. Luckily complicated is her middle name. Being a part-time investigator and full-time Grim Reaper makes life very interesting. Demons find her irresistible and the deceased find her very sparkly. Though one entity wants to seduce her any way possible.

Now Charley and her best friend and receptionist, Cookie need to track down a missing woman. Though the case isn’t quite as open and shut as they believed it would be. While investigating that case the Son of Satan also knows as Reyes Alexander Farrow has left his corporeal body and is haunting Charley. His body is being tortured by demons determined to lure Charley to them. Reyes is determined to not let that happen because if it does it will give the demons a portal to heaven and that would not be a good thing.

Now Charley is dealing with hot nights with Reyes and hotter days tracking down a missing woman. She also has to keep those she loves safe from harm. Charley is also wondering if there is possibly enough coffee and chocolate to get her through this latest case.

This book picks up right after the first book left off. It also proves to be just as fun and hilarious as the first book was. This is a series that is a fun take on paranormals that once it is started the reader will never be the same after. This takes sarcasm to a whole different level that makes it fun and will keep the reader turning the pages just to see what situation Charley will get herself into next. This is proving to be a series not to miss and that will have a permanent place on reader’s keeper shelves. This has mystery romance and sarcasm that is not to be missed.

I received book one in this series as a gift, read it in a record time, and instantly bought this one. I am engrossed in this series and feel as if I personally know each character in it. They are all very real, and very well writted. I love that it is a page turner, keep you on the edge of your seat book, that will then have you giggling and then turns steamy as well. What more could you want in a book? NOTHING! I can not believe I have not discovered this series before now. This book will draw you in from the beginning and will consume you. Time will pass and before you know it, you will be almost done with this book, and will be craving more. You have to get all four in this series they are great.

Our Review [by Michelle L. Olson - LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha]:
1st and foremost, I found myself shaking my head over and over while reading this book, wondering how in the world Daryda can be such a genius with words even when it's filler. I'm utterly amazed at her ability to turn EVERYTHING funny, even when the characters are in dire straits. It truly is a gift...
O.K, on to the book. An amazing follow-up to First Grave on the Right. Another smart, sexy, sassy, sophisticated read, with incredible action, mystery, and romance.
Per usual, Charley is constantly finding herself in trouble, though this time she's not only trying to solve a missing person case for the APD and her best friend Cookie, she's also trying desperately to save Reyes from himself.
Reyes doesn't make it easy on her AT ALL, and while we learn a little bit more about the enigma that is Reyes Farrow in Second Grave, I know there is still so much to uncover.
The underlying stories in this book and the supporting characters' roles were phenomenal. I enjoyed every single offshoot of the main plotline, and found myself right there with the characters at every turn.
I laughed (A LOT), I groaned, my heart beat quickened... it was a wonderful journey with a fabulous book, and I'm very excited to dig into Third Grave Dead Ahead.
LITERAL ADDICTION gives Second Grave on the Left 5 Skulls and suggests it to anyone who wants a witty, amazing, unique paranormal read.

While Second Grave can be read as a stand-alone, I highly suggest reading First Grave on the Right before Second Grave to get the full impact of the character's and the story. Believe me, you won't be disappointed!
