"Three Cups of Tea" written by Greg Mortenson has a central theme which is derived from a proverb and repeatedly it speaks out during this inspirational tale. "The first time you share tea with a Balti, you are a stranger," a villager tells Greg Mortenson. "The second time, you are an honored guest. The third time you become family."

I found Mortenson's story about his singular efforts to address poverty, educate girls, and overcome cultural divides meaningful and a true learning experience. Three Cups also showed a culture's way to eventually make strangers into "family" in this part of the world.
