The Titans Curse by Rich Riordan

The Titans Curse by Rich Riordan is a riveting book that always keeps you on your toes. It brings mortals, demigods, gods, and Titans together in one book for a satisfactory “10” from me. It’s full of choices that could change the world left on one boy’s shoulder. It also brings out the true feelings of two main characters. “Annabeth made a weak sound of protest. My heart felt like it was being twisted into a knot. I wanted to run to her, but I couldn’t move.” Also the return of the unwanted demigod, Luke is back and staying.” Neither is Luke, you know. I mean……….. he isn’t dead.” He comes back in the beginning to follow the General, an eerie enemy of Zoë Nightshade, who wants to defeat the gods and bring down Olympus. This book is filled with things you wouldn’t think to happen in a Percy Jackson book. I love how Rich brought in new Greek Gods that we’ve never seen before like, Aphrodite, Apollo, Artemis and the mysterious Pan. This book is fantastic and is the best of the series in my mind. Titans Curse like all the others is great for anyone. Fifth graders and up would enjoy reading this book. This book was pure enjoyment, it didn’t feel like I had to read for school, it was more that I wanted to. So make sure the next time you go looking for a book you pick up Titans Curse by Rich Riordan, but make sure you’ve read the others leading up to this book because each book flows into the next.

What a fun read! I was given a copy of this book, so I read it before reading any others in the series. Now I can't wait to read the rest.

As the third in the series of five, I'd expect this book to be the emotional hinge. Though there was plenty of interesting action, I didn't find it as compelling as the first two. Instead of marking a turning point in Percy's development, it seemed more like a transitional adventure. Interpersonal dynamics are foreshadowed but not yet fully available to the reader. Fortunately, it picks back up with the fourth book.

"Staff Pick" by ,

The Titan's Curse is the third book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and Riordan is still going strong. The goddess Artemis is missing, and Percy and his friends have little time to rescue her. This time, Annabeth gets a little extra help from her human dad, which makes for a fun story that leaves you wanting more.

"Staff Pick" by ,

Percy Jackson is not normal. He's got ADHD and attention deficit, and he's been kicked out of every school he's ever attended. Now he discovers he's a half blood: half human, half Olympian god. But his problems are only beginning. Someone has stolen Zeus's thunderbolt — and Percy's being blamed.

"Review" by , "Riordan continues to enliven ancient mythology with wit, contemporary staging, and teenage heroics....All in all, a winner of Olympic proportions and a surefire read-aloud."
"Review" by , "Mixing humor with fantasy and rousing swordplay, this installment in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is a hero's epic quest reminiscent of cyberpunk science fiction or addictive videogames."
"Review" by , "High-powered action sequences, humorous transposition of Olympian legends to the modern day, and direct, unassuming narration remain big draws for fans of the series, who will enjoy imagining themselves in the young heroes' dilemmas — and will look forward to more."
"Synopsis" by , In this third book of the acclaimed series, Percy and his friends are escorting two new half-bloods safely to camp when they are intercepted by a manticore and learn that the goddess Artemis has been kidnapped.
"Synopsis" by , When the goddess Artemis goes missing, she is believed to have been kidnapped. And now it's up to Percy and his friends to find out what happened. Who is powerful enough to kidnap a goddess? They must find Artemis before the winter solstice, when her influence on the Olympian Council could swing an important vote on the war with the titans. Not only that, but first Percy will have to solve the mystery of a rare monster that Artemis was hunting when she disappeared-a monster rumored to be so powerful it could destroy Olympus forever.
