Overall I really liked Bones Are Forever. Especially how the story line tied in with gemstone mining as gemstones are a hobby of mine. And of course I really hope that Tempe and Andrew Ryan get back together eventually. I never really liked the whole story arc with his daughter Lily but I do understand that it does portray circumstances that appear in real life. I definitely can't wait to see what comes next in Tempe's world.

Things that bugged me:
First off why does Tempe have to have an iPhone? Why can't it just be called a cell phone or even a smartphone? Why does everything have to be Apple this and Apple that. It's bad enough that the company has a monopoly right now in the cell phone market. Why do they also have to be acknowledged in novels?

Secondly when you are going to use a well known band at least get the spelling of their name correct. Especially when in context it mentions that they are a popular band of said country you are standing in. Pg. 64 check it out. It's supposed to be Nickelback....Not.... Nickleback. And then a little bit later another band is referenced with the correct spelling (Puddle of Mudd, pg. 93). Why get one right and one wrong? Of course we can't tell who's fault it is. Editors or the author. But it's a bit unacceptable I think when a series is this far. Although I will concede that maybe they noticed it too late before books were already printed as Kathy mentions in the Acknowledgements section that all mistakes are her fault.

As usual, Kathy Reichs serves up another engrossing yarn which holds the reader enthralled page after page. The plot is well developed, and the characters believeable and engaging. Certain elements of the story could have been expanded more, but enough is hinted at to allow the reader some mental excursions of their own.
In true Reichs style, the reader is often questioning their prediction of who the true villian is, but the motive became clearer earlier in this book than some of her previous offerings... this is not a criticism.. perhaps I read too many crime novels that I can now spot some of the tells.

Despite the blurb about "bones" (the TV show) there is little in common other than the science and a character name... in all other respects this book, like all of kathy's books is made to be read alone, or in conjunction with the rest of the series.. and like the rest of the series, this book will be read again and again.

Reichs never fails to write a book that holds me start to finish! And this is no different. For a good who done it with great charcters and plot twists and turns, this is it!

"Publishers Weekly Review" by , "Three dead infants and the search for their mother (and prime murder suspect) sends forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan to the remote Canadian north in Reichs's solid 15th series installment (after 2011's Flash and Bones). A woman arrives at a Montreal hospital showing signs of postnatal bleeding, but her disappearance before doctors can examine her arouses suspicion; as a result, Brennan is called to investigate. At the woman's home, she discovers the hidden corpses of three infants, but the suspect — who gave her name as Amy Roberts but also goes by Alva Rodriguez and Annaliese Ruben — is long gone. Reminded of her baby brother Kevin's death from leukemia when she was a child, Brennan takes the case personally. Along with Detective Andrew Ryan and the cocky Mounties Sergeant Oliver 'Ollie' Hasty, with whom she once had a brief fling, Brennan discovers that the woman, who has a history of prostitution, is headed to Yellowknife, a small outpost in the Northwest Territories. The trio heads to the tiny diamond mining town and find themselves in the middle of a drug war and a bitter battle over diamond rights, with the mysterious woman caught in the middle. Reichs always delivers a pulse-pounding story, and here she also sheds light on very real issues surrounding Canadian diamond mining. (Aug.)" Publishers Weekly Copyright PWxyz, LLC. "Synopsis" by , Temperance Brennan has been asked to examine the corpses of three dead babies in Montreal. It's a difficult assignment, complicated further by the fact that her long-time flame Detective Ryan is investigating the infants' mother, a former (and possibly current) prostitute. When the woman flees to Edmonton, the investigation is joined by Royal Canadian Mounted Police sergeant with whom Tempe had an ill-advised fling over a decade earlier. The dissonant team heads to remotest Yellowknife — mining country — to pursue an ever more sinister trail.

With the Fox series Bones in its seventh season and her popularity at its broadest ever, Kathy Reichs reaches new heights in storytelling and suspense-building. Bones Are Forever shimmers with sexual tension, crackling dialogue, and the thrilling twists Reichs delivers so well.
