Please Stop Laughing at Me: written by Jodee Blanco
This book was one of the best books I have read because I am now aware of what goes on at school to others and what some have to face daily. I can’t relate to having an experience like this but know others who feel the way Jodee does and has gone through what she has. This book is about a girl named Jodee who just wants to be a part of the popular group by who she is and by being herself. She wants to be accepted but is trying too hard and not being herself. Being abused and made fun of by students straight to her face isn’t something that’s going to help. “Jodee, Dr. Graff wants to help you, but you’ve got to be willing to help yourself,” Mom stated firmly. This quote explains the theme because in this book to change or get help you have to be willing to help yourself as others are willing to help you. I believe this quote is true in this book as well as in life; it takes two willing people to help each other. She’s trying to stay strong during hard times and on top of things, convince her parents she doesn’t need help from psychiatrics. This book will really open up your heart to those who are just trying to be accepted and treated decent by other students. Will she get through this and stay strong through everything? Go ahead and take a peek through the book, you won’t regret reading this novel!

Please Stop Laughing at Me By Jodee Blanco

Please stop laughing at me is probably my all time favorite book. It doesn't take that long to read and is very relatable. The book is a true story written by the main character, Jodee. The story is told when she was in 5th grade, all through middle school and high school so her whole teenage years. She suffered through people bullying her and everyone telling her to ignore it. I personally think that is terrible and no one should go through people bullying her and doing what they did to her. Jodee transferred schools multiple times and never gave up hope. Its a really good book, you should read it!:) My favorite part of the book is when Jodee goes to the reunion. I don't want to spoil it but its really good. “Jodee, I knew you had a crush on me in high school. Everybody did.
That was the problem. The sad part is that i liked you too.”that's like my favorite part of the book.

I read this book as an assignment for my Writing for Teachers class, we're in the midst of learning about memoirs. This book touched me on so many levels and I would recommend it for all to read. It's an emotional story of her life being bullied and how she dealt with it and those around her. As an educator my focus is to teach my students to not bully and to be an ally. Jodee is an amazing author and I can't wait to read her other books.

"Synopsis" by , While other children were daydreaming about dances, first kisses, and college, Jodee Blanco was trying to figure out how to go from homeroom to study hall without being taunted or spit upon as she walked through the halls.

This powerful, unforgettable memoir chronicles how one child was shunned--and even physically abused--by her classmates from elementary school through high school. It is an unflinching look at what it means to be the outcast, how even the most loving parents can get it all wrong, why schools are often unable to prevent disaster, and how bullying has been misunderstood and mishandled by the mental health community.

You will be shocked, moved, and ultimately inspired by this harrowing tale of survival against insurmountable odds. This vivid story will open your eyes to the harsh realities and long-term consequences of bullying--and how all of us can make a difference in the lives of teens today.
