About the Author

Eileen Cook spent most of her teen years wishing she were someone else or somewhere else, which is great training for a writer. When she was unable to find any job postings for world famous author, she went to Michigan State University and became a counselor so she could at least afford her book buying habit. But real people have real problems, so she returned to writing because she liked having the ability to control the ending. Which is much harder with humans.

You can read more about Eileen, her books, and the things that strike her as funny at eileencook.com and on Twitter at @Eileenwriter. Eileen lives in Vancouver with her husband and dogs and no longer wishes to be anyone or anywhere else.

"Getting Revenge on Lauren Wood" failed to meet my expectations. When picking it up in the bookstore and reading the brief description, it seemed to follow the horror genre. However, after finishing the short novel, it included the themes of "finding yourself" and "what do you really value?" Not only do I believe these themes to be over user in traditional plotlines, but anytime a cheesy, happy ending is included, I feel like I'm 10 years old again reading books from the school library. Aside from everything mentioned so far, the book lacked depth, detail, and smooth transitions. Overall, Getting Revenge on Lauren Wood was a halfway entertaining read with the occasional chuckle, however, I would not spend my money on it. I felt decieved by he description, and did not get much out of reading the novel.

I would not call this Children's Young Adult, YA is more appropriate. I am not sure how this ended up on my book shelf as it is not my usual genre. That said this was a quick enjoyable read. There were some good lessons in the book, about who you are, honesty, friendship and doing what is important for you.
