I've been following the author's blog for years, loved their first book (The Urban Homestead), and couldn't wait for this one to come out! Unlike many books that you read once and then put on your bookshelf, Making It is one of those books that you keep using over and over again. It's also one of those rare books that is geared toward people of all skill/"green" levels, as it contains projects that range from the simple to the complex. From things like natural shampoo alternatives to foraging, from making vinegar to beginning beekeeping, there's a project in here for everyone.

This book is absolutely the book of my dreams! I had been so inspired by another book, Radical Homemakers by Shannon Hayes, which is full of the reasoning behind adopting a post-consumer, sustainable lifestyle but I needed some instruction on the practical things I could do to start moving in that direction. Making It is PERFECT. It's easy to read, thorough but not overkill, and lovely to look at. Kelly Coyne and Erik Knutzen are the real deal. What a treasure!
