A wonderful coming-of-age novel with tons of heart. There is a mystery which is solved but to me it was the people and their relationships that made this novel a great read.

I'm a huge King fan, but this book is different than his others. It isn't super scary and the characters actually bring memories of friends from.college. They are likeable. This is a fast read that I was sorry to see end. A nice change of pace from a great author.

I actually really enjoyed this book. I think I read this after coming off of Under the Dome so it was just such a pleasant experience to read a shorter, sweeter, stephen king novel so quickly after that giant headache of a book. There are things in here that I'll probably remember forever.

Stephen king is a horror genius! I love his mans books. Like many other works of his I stayed up way too late reading this one! It was amazing. I must admit it had a few slow points, but those points were not enough to knock it down from 5 stars.
This one was old King he went back to his roots the creep factor of Salems Lot, Cujo and pet sematary.
If you are a Constant Reader you have to add this one to your shelf!

"Staff Pick" by ,

Joyland is the perfect Stephen King book for those who aren't as into his regular horror and gore style but still want to be spooked. In Joyland, we follow the life of a college student working at an amusement park with a troublesome past and rumors circulating about a haunted ride. The spookier parts of the story are sprinkled tastefully throughout the book and it doesn't rely on a large shock factor. I recommend this book to those who enjoy speculating who the culprit is and aren't as concerned with being on the edge of their seat throughout the book. Another great read by one of the times' greatest authors.

"Review" by , "This one’s a must for King fans and may also attract YA readers."
"Review" by , "[P]eriod murder mystery with a heart...King brings his usual finesse to this tale’s mystery elements."
"Review" by , “Undeniable…charm [and] aching nostalgia…[Joyland] reads like a heartfelt memoir and might be King’s gentlest book, a canny channeling of the inner peace one can find within outer tumult.”
"Review" by , "Wrapped in a gloriously pulpy cover, Joyland is a coming-of-age story set in 1973 at a North Carolina amusement park — creepy! — that's haunted by a murderer."
"Review" by , "Stephen King's carny-saturated Joyland evokes the ghosts of summers past — literally."
"Review" by , “King's latest thriller, a PG-13 pulp paperback crime novel takes place at a remote carny park where college kid Devin is desperate to see the ghost of a girl whose murderer might still be lurking around the hot dog stands.”
