David Cortright is president of the Fourth Freedom Forum and a research fellow at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame. He is the author or editor of twelve books, including A Peaceful Superpower: The Movement Against War in Iraq (2004).

This is an important book to read at this time in history. It documents well and thoroughly the dissent among the GI's during the Vietnam War Era. Many events we haven't heard of. Many we have forgotten and are reminded about when we read this book. It reminds us of some of the dissenters in the Iraq war. The introduction by the ever-eloquent and important voice of Howard Zinn puts things in perspective.
