A true storyregarding hurricane Katrina. The artworks hits you on a soul level, and then it's all over after the first sentence, "In the jazzy spicy city of New Orleans/In a building colored mango tangerine." This book on a young hero is gently written and beautifully illustrated, utilizing the poetry of jazz and the art of the Caribbean, and tells of 6 year old De Monte Love separated from his parents by Hurricane Katrina. De Monte Love takes care of six younger children - his brother, two cousins and several friends in the streets of downtown New Orleans. A must children's book!
