First time in print--Cook's most daring novel yet. A mysterious transmission from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean leads a crew of oceanographers and divers to a phenomenon beyond scientific understanding--and a discovery that will change everything we know about life on Earth.

Robin Cook had become a favorite author when I read the first of several of his books. Abduction has now become my favorite of favorites. I was no sooner done reading it (at 2 in the morning) when I had to read the last 15 pages again to savor the ending. This is a departure from any other book that he authored that I have read and I consider it the best yet. The first part began as an "excellent" adventure, and by the time I reached the middle, I was already anxious to know how it would end. I thought it was impossible to conclude it with a "satisfactory" ending, but it exceeded my expectations with humor, logic and an incredible surprise, the only way it could have ended, but it caught me totally off guard.
