Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

This lovely story of people who travel to China to be united with their daughters describes the adoption process step by step and the anxiety, suspense, and delight of becoming a family. As the moon shines on four baby girls, fast asleep in an orphanage, the sun rises over four homes in North America as the people who live there get ready to start a long, exciting journey. Full-color illustrations.

Review:

"[The] text is lively and inclusive, at times poetic, but it is the illustrator, Meilo So, who transforms their story and opens it to a much wider audience. As in her previous books, her bright illustrations heighten the sense of windblown exhilaration." Lucinda Franks, New York Times

Review:

"Effervescent watercolors . . . a must buy for all libraries and a lovely gift for new families of all stripes."

Review:

"This heartwarming story [is] a complement to the study of China as well as a good book to explain adoption."

Review:

"A purposeful, successful picture book. . . emotionally involving enough for any group interested in understanding the different ways families grow."
