I have been using the book and the film with my elementary classroom for several years. We use this as part of understanding immigration and tolerance. We also study the students' heritage by placing pins onto a large map on the wall to celebrate their geographic and cultural diversity. The week before Thanksgiving we invite grandparents in to share stories with the class!
