Synopses & ReviewsPublisher Comments:The British Army suffered its worst defeat of the colonial wars in January, 1879, when the encampment at Isandhlwana was destroyed by the Zulu army. The main British force was the 24th Foot (South Wales Borderers), who were to fare better the next day at Rorke's Drift. Although a defeat for the British, the battlefield was the site of a gallant stand and numerous acts of courage and endurance.<P>Isandhlwana is virtually the same today as it was in 1879, and recently saw a ceremony of reconciliation between Zulu warriors and today's Royal Regiment of Wales, still bearing on their regimental color the Wreath of Immortelles given them by Queen Victoria after the battle. All of the dramatic incidents of this famous last stand and the area as it is today are covered with all the detail associated with the Battleground series.
