I picked up a copy of this book in a used book store when I was in high school (17 years ago) and have never seen another copy and I have been looking. This is a book that I would love to give as a gift to everyone I know. Brilliant! The title drew me in and the book did not leave my hand until I was finished reading. The Word for World is Forest is a book I re-read every year. My copy is falling apart and I am hoping to find another someday! I recommend it to anyone who is lucky enough to come across it!

I was totally entranced by this novel...having picked it out of a relative's massive collection. If all or the LeGuin novels are like this one, then I've a new and magical source of "words rearranged"...as I like to call my books. A novel such as this, that has so many possible alternatives is one that keeps your attention, while taking a few surprising routes on the way to a not overly unpleasant conclusion. Alernative humans...and a world being viewed and experienced in a totally different way. Refreshing. Some of the violence...subject to your political bent...totally justified. More...More.
