Chronicles of Narnia #05: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Rpkg)by C S Lewis
Synopses & ReviewsPublisher Comments:The things in the picture were moving. It didn't look at all like a cinema either; the colors were too real and clean and out-of-doors for that. Down went the prow of the ship into the wave and up went a great shock of spray. Through this enchanted painting, Edmund and Lucy, accompanied by their unwilling and unpleasant cousin Eustace, once again enter the magical world of Narnia. Once aboard the magnificent ship Dawn Treader, Edmund and Lucy are reunited with their old friends Caspian, the young King, and Reepicheep, the daring Mouse. They embark on a noble voyage to find the seven lords of Narnia who were banished during the dark rule of Caspian's evil uncle Miraz. Unforseeable adventures and dangers await them as they sail farther and farther from charted waters toward the "utter East" that Reepicheep has dreamed of since his youth. It is there he hopes to find the mystical home of Aslan, the majestic Lion and King and Lord of all Narnia. Book five of The Chronicles of Narnia continues the saga of C. S. Lewis's beloved land of fantastic creatures and unlikely heroes. Readers of any age will be entranced as the crew of the Dawn Treader approaches the "World's End." "It is, in turn, beautiful, frightening, wise. . ." wrote an astonished reviewer in The New York Times upon reading The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. It is this same sense of wonder that accompanies the reading of all seven books of The Chronicles of Narnia, C. S. Lewis's masterpiece of children's literature. About the AuthorClive Staples Lewis, was born in Belfast, Ireland, in 1898. As a child, he was fascinated by the fairy tales, myths, and ancient legends recounted to him by his Irish nurse. The image of a faun carrying parcels and an umbrella in a snowy wood came to him when he was sixteen. Many years later, the faun was joined by an evil queen and a magnificient lion. Their story became The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe. Six further Chronicles of Narnia followed, and the final title, The Last Battle, was awarded the United Kingdom's prestigious Carnegie Award.
