Synopses & Reviews
The things in the picture were moving. It didn't look at all like a cinema either; the colors were too real and clean and out-of-doors for that. Down went the prow of the ship into the wave and up went a great shock of spray.
Through this enchanted painting, Edmund and Lucy, accompanied by their unwilling and unpleasant cousin Eustace, once again enter the magical world of Narnia.
Once aboard the magnificent ship Dawn Treader, Edmund and Lucy are reunited with their old friends Caspian, the young King, and Reepicheep, the daring Mouse. They embark on a noble voyage to find the seven lords of Narnia who were banished during the dark rule of Caspian's evil uncle Miraz. Unforseeable adventures and dangers await them as they sail farther and farther from charted waters toward the "utter East" that Reepicheep has dreamed of since his youth. It is there he hopes to find the mystical home of Aslan, the majestic Lion and King and Lord of all Narnia.
Book five of The Chronicles of Narnia continues the saga of C. S. Lewis's beloved land of fantastic creatures and unlikely heroes. Readers of any age will be entranced as the crew of the Dawn Treader approaches the "World's End."
"It is, in turn, beautiful, frightening, wise. . ." wrote an astonished reviewer in The New York Times upon reading The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. It is this same sense of wonder that accompanies the reading of all seven books of The Chronicles of Narnia, C. S. Lewis's masterpiece of children's literature.
A beautiful hardcover edition of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, book five in the classic fantasy series, The Chronicles of Narnia. The full-color jacket features art by three time Caldecott award winning artist David Wiesner and black-and-white interior illustrations by the series' original illustrator, Pauline Baynes.
A king and some unexpected companions embark on a voyage that will take them beyond all known lands. As they sail farther and farther from charted waters, they discover that their quest is more than they imagined and that the world's end is only the beginning.
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the fifth book in C. S. Lewis's classic fantasy series. For over sixty years, it has been captivating readers of all ages with magical lands they never dreamed existed for over sixty years. This is a novel that stands on its own, but if you would like to continue to the journey, read The Silver Chair, the sixth book in The Chronicles of Narnia.
Through his enchanted painting, Edmund and Lucy, accompanied by their unwilling and unpleasant cousin Eustace, once again enter the magical world of Narnia.
About the Author
Clive Staples Lewis, was born in Belfast, Ireland, in 1898. As a child, he was fascinated by the fairy tales, myths, and ancient legends recounted to him by his Irish nurse. The image of a faun carrying parcels and an umbrella in a snowy wood came to him when he was sixteen. Many years later, the faun was joined by an evil queen and a magnificient lion. Their story became The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe. Six further Chronicles of Narnia followed, and the final title, The Last Battle, was awarded the United Kingdom's prestigious Carnegie Award.
