Book News Annotation:

Corey (human services emeritus, California State U., Fullerton) updates his popular text to focus closely on the practical as he works through a range of approaches to group therapy, beginning with the basic elements of the group process right up to the complexities of integration. He describes the stages of development of a group and the ethical and professional issues of group practice, then concentrates on theoretical approaches including the psychoanalytic, Adlerian, existential, person-centered, gestalt, psychodrama, transactional analysis, cognitive behavioral, rational emotive, reality therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy. With each theory he shows why and how that particular approach may be the most effective choice, and provides references for further study and application in practice.
