About the Author

Samantha Power is a foreign policy columnist at Time magazine. She is the Anna Lindh Professor of Practice of Global Leadership and Public Policy at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government, where she was the founding executive director of the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy. She is a recipient of the National Magazine Award and the Pulitzer Prize, and she lives in Winthrop, Massachusetts.

I've been reading/studying about the uses of Genocide for many years with an emphasis on The Holocaust-but,since then, whether it was in Eastern Europe in the 90's or in Africa since then,I've NEVER read anything about the origins of the term or the concept it embodies-Power,a respected authority and academic(and now an Asst. Sec. of State in the Obama administration), won the Pulitzer Prize for her efforts-this is a REAL contribution to society in understanding how nations can use Genocide to destroy their own people-

While many books I read this past decade merit consideration, this really stands out in my mind
