Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

There is peace at last between the warrior Clans, and Firestar is proud of the strength and unity of the cats he leads in ThunderClan. All four forest Clans are thriving, training new warriors and keeping their boundaries without conflict.

But Firestar's dreams are haunted by wailing cats fleeing a terrible disaster. With unexpected help from an old kittypet friend, he discovers a shocking secret: StarClan, the warrior ancestors who guide his paw steps, have lied to him.

Firestar is faced with the hardest decision of his life. Can he really turn his back on the forest that has become his home and embark on a perilous quest to discover a dark truth—one that has been buried beyond the memory of living cats? Whatever he finds at the end of his journey, he knows that nothing can ever be the same again.

About the Author

Erin Hunter is inspired by a love of cats and a fascination with the ferocity of the natural world. As well as having a great respect for nature in all its forms, Erin enjoys creating rich mythical explanations for animal behavior, shaped by her interest in astrology and standing stones.

Michael Taylor, April 30, 2007 (view all comments by Michael Taylor)
Tigerstar and Scourge are dead and peace descends. Firestar is just beginning to focus on leading his clan, but is troubled by visits from a warrior ancestor he has never seen before. Who is this cat? What does he want? If what he says is true, then Star Clan have lied to Firestar, compromising the warrior code. In order to find out, Firestar must leave the forest and go on a journey to discover the truth.

FIRESTAR'S QUEST, a stand-alone novel, falls chronologically between the books, THE DARKEST HOUR and MIDNIGHT.

"Teasers" re. Firestar's quest and hints that something happened between the defeat of Blood Clan and the beginning of the New Prophecy series appear in SUNSET. When Brambleclaw insists that a new deputy must be appointed, Firestar says, "Remember when I had to go away for a while when you were a new warrior?" Later Brambleclaw says, "But if you had died on your quest..."
