About the Author

Ashley Bryan studied art at Cooper Union in New York City and attended Columbia University, where he earned a degree in philosophy. His many awards and honors include the Coretta Scott King Award for illustration, six Coretta Scott King Honors, and a Fulbright Scholarship. The beloved creator of more than thirty books for young people, Ashley Bryan lives in Islesford, Maine.
